About Me:
I am a highly motivated and organized part-time student in the MA Museum Studies Program at George Washington University (GWU) with a focus on Exhibition and Visitor Experience seeking curatorial internship opportunities at museums in Washington, DC, that afford me the chance to combine my passion for history, art, and anthropology into the museum field. In Fall 2024, I became a Curatorial Intern at Girl Museum, an entirely virtual museum. I am assisting the curator in conducting research, writing the script and text labels, and finding images that will be featured in the exhibition on British Girl's Fashion from the 17th to 19th Century. As a student, I have also taken courses that allowed me to conduct archival research on DC Statehood and Home Rule, later featured along with four video/audio content in the Still in the Fight: DC Statehood exhibition. The exhibition opened in April 2024 at the Corcoran School of Art and Design. During my time in the program, I have also published a paper on the virtual exhibitions featured at Girl Museum, a research paper on Governor William F M Arny, and a collection of Navajo textiles in the archives at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.
Over the last six years, as the Political Competitive Specialist for Gray Television, I have managed all political spending across 100+ local news stations for the 2018-2024 election seasons. During my time at Gray, I have expanded my role to take on additional responsibilities, including researching Biden’s Environmental plan, assisting journalists with interviewing members of Congress during the State of Union Address and working closely with Gray’s White House Correspondents on the broadcasting of important news stories that include Trumps Indictment and the War in Gaza. This role has allowed me to work with some of the most prominent political agencies in the county, stay organized in a fast-paced environment, conduct necessary research on important news stories, and continue my passion for US Politics.
During my time in the political sector, I have also continued to commit my time to the non-profit sector as a volunteer. Before moving to the DC area, I was a pet video curator volunteer and pet assistant at the CT Human Society in Westport, CT, where I produced over twenty videos that increased traffic to the organization’s adoption site and built a strong relationship with the adoptable pets to help them receive the care needed before finding their forever home. Once I moved to DC, I became a volunteer tutor for the AHC, an affordable housing community center in Arlington, VA. I assisted middle and high school students with their homework and college essays. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, I volunteered at the Wegmans Wonderplace at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. From 2022 to 2023, I volunteered in the Spark Lab at the National Museum of American History, where I assisted the staff in overseeing the children’s exhibits for ages six and up. These two volunteer opportunities have allowed me to build strong relationships with staff at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, assist visitors with questions about the exhibits and the museum, and better understand what goes into creating exhibitions meant explicitly for children.
Before working at Gray Television, I was the marketing and programs associate for the Stamford Education Foundation in Stamford, CT, leading six programs and the bi-yearly Book Give-A-Way for elementary, middle, and high school students. I also created and managed all marketing forums for the organization's programs, fundraising events, and campaigns that helped increase their social media engagement by about 50 percent. I also produced three videos for the organization’s programs, events, and fundraising efforts. As an intern on the Marketing and Communication team at Women’s World Banking, I produced a seven-episode web series that explored the organization through its staff and produced content for the organization's social media that boosted its engagement by about 40 percent. As a freelance filmmaker, I have also produced and edited videos/digital content for Good Sport, a sports media start-up. The videos were released on the company's website and shown to CBS executives and other large agencies in sales presentations.
For four years, I managed a blog called Zeroing In, where I wrote posts on sustainability and environmental activism. This blog allowed me to research important issues, collaborate with other bloggers within the sustainability community, and strengthen my writing skills.
I have attached my resume here and provided links to my videos, marketing strategies, and personal blog. For more information and to discuss my experiences in further detail, you can reach me by email at lindsayannegua@gmail.com.
